Dr Shekarloo is the founder of MAAHSA and an Obstetrician Gynecologist and the Director of Global Health and Peer Review at Maimonides Medical Center (MMC) in Brooklyn. She has over ten years of experience working in women’s and adolescent health. Dr. Shekarloo began her career as a community activist and organizer on issues such as domestic and sexual violence, substance abuse and their impact specifically on women of color and their communities. She developed the Global Health Program at MMC in 2018 and has organized surgical trips with her residents to Kenya and Guatemala in partnership with Saving Mothers. She has a passion for equitable access to maternal and adolescent health globally.

She annually works with Howard Medical Students through a hands-on experience as a member of NOAHNY, a nonprofit organization that has built hospitals in the northern part of Haiti. Dr. Lubin is also a member of MiMSI(Modification In Mother Baby-Mortality Initiative) a nonprofit organization that provides prenatal care to women in the south of Haiti. Dr. Lubin is a committed humanitarian who has provided medical relief efforts in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. She continues to visit Haiti on an annual basis where she provides free OB/GYN care. Dr. Sophia Lubin is currently practicing in Brooklyn at The Brooklyn Heights Women’s Center, and is also a faculty attending at Maimonides Medical Center. Dr. Lubin is involved in a myriad of community efforts including hosting special events called “Ladies Night Out”. She is passionate about broadening her scope of practice to help women lead happy, healthy and empowered lives.

From 2004-2008 he served as a strategic advisor to the Assistant Secretary General for the Untied Nations Development Program (UNDP) on development projects in sub-Saharan Africa, overseeing a portfolio of over $1.2 billion in projects related to health, energy and environment, and governance. Dr. Mostashari is in the top 20 cited scholars in systems thinking in the world and has published numerous peer-reviewed publications at the intersection of health and systems science.
