On May 25, 2021 our team that will be traveling to Dominican Republic picked up surgical supplies that were generously donated by Maimonides Medical Center thanks to Carol Kidney our Surgical Operations Manager ( featured in the photo )  who made the arrangements, The supplies will be utilized in our upcoming gynecologic surgical trip to the Dominican Republic June 6-13, 2021 which will also coincide with the launch of Maternal and Adolescent Health Safety Alliance.

Team includes  Dr. Shekarloo our founder and faculty attending in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology , Maimonides Medical Center as well as  Dr. Nuria Luna our chief resident and member of the medical team.

On June 6th, MAAHSA will travel to the Dominican Republic with long-time partner Saving Mothers. The team is participating in a laparoscopic gynecologic surgical effort at the Hospital de la Mujer Doña Renée Klang de Guzmán, also known as La Maternidad, in Santiago.

The volunteer MAAHSA surgical team is bringing thousands of dollars of equipment and training local staff to provide lifesaving laparoscopic surgeries to women in need. Through developing a training program at La Maternidad, MAAHSA will train hospital staff to provide surgeries to address ruptured ectopic pregnancy, perform salpingectomy, ovarian cyst resection, tubal ligation, diagnostic laparoscopy, hysterectomy, and urogynecologic procedures such as prolapse and fistula.
